Dödens arlequin (Death's Harlequin) is a second play in what Hjalmar Bergman has named Marionettspel, written in 1917 it was performed at Malmö Stadsteater together with En skugga (A Shadow) in March 1948. Both were directed by Bengt Ekerot. This play is the one that gave the name Marionettspel to the four plays. Doctor Brising pronounces himself as being Death's harlequin and we are all held by his strings and performing what he tells us to do. |
